Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia. Hamilton Island’s formation as with most of the islands in the Whitsunday group was due to sea levels rising. In 1975 Hamilton Island was privately purchased and the construction of Hamilton Island Harbour. The island is almost exclusively used for tourism.
